I had no idea what I was getting into with this project. I thought it would take 2 months. It became 10 intermittent months of 12 hour days, 6 days a week, in the middle of the night when the dining room was closed. Rather than rush and get out, I decided to devote myself fully to the project and make the most of the experience. It’s been interesting to see my skill develop with each painting. Though this has been a scheduling and financial disaster, it is my proudest work and an incredibly satisfying way to express my time living in Italy in 2007. The scenes are taken from my own photographs with the exceptions of Milan and Sicily. Nearly every figure portrayed is a friend or professor from my time in Italy. The murals are scheduled to be finished before this spring.
